La Petite Ecole (established 1983) is a bilingual Nursery and Primary school in Notting Hill, teaching in English and French. The school has a reputation for excellence and is consistently placed amongst the best bilingual schools in London. We pride ourselves on our small class sizes and personalised approach to teaching.

La Petite Ecole is a nurturing and homely environment in which children thrive. We believe that every child is an individual with unique talents. Free Early Years funding (15 or 30 hours/week) for all pupils under 5 years old, unless fees are paid by employer or Bourse.

My name is Camie Steuer, and I am thrilled to lead our vibrant, bilingual community which strives for excellence in education every day. This is my third year as Headteacher, and each day brings me immense joy and pride as I work alongside our dedicated staff, enthusiastic children and supportive families.

Our school is uniquely positioned, blending the richness of French and English curricula to provide an exceptional educational experience. We are passionate about nurturing every child’s potential, fostering their creativity, confidence and curiosity. We keep our class sizes small to make sure each child receives personal attention. We believe that every child should feel seen, heard, and supported in their journey to achieve their goals. Together with our families, we create a close-knit community that values collaboration, respect, and the joy of learning.

Your children will benefit from more attention from our highly qualified teachers. We pride ourselves on our small class sizes and personalised approach to teaching. In the Early Years we have a maximum of 18 pupils in a class with a Teacher and an Assistant. Gifted children are stretched and challenged, and those needing more assistance are supported. Learning and activities take place in small groups.

It is now widely believed by neuroscientists that being bilingual exercises the brain and improves concentration, problem solving skills, memory and creativity. The best time to learn another language is at childhood, when the neural networks are being built in the brain. There are huge long-term benefits to bilingualism, such as a delay in the onset of dementia.
